General Requirements

  • At least 18 years old at the start of the internship 
  • Must be a student or recent graduate from a post-secondary education program 
  • Basic computer skills 
  • Ability to collaborate within a multicultural environment 
  • Experience serving clients of varying backgrounds and demographics. 
  • Applicants are required to submit a resume, cover letter, and one letter of recommendation to be considered for an internship. The letter must come from a current or former professor, employer, or community leader.

Application Process

1. Submit Application

Applicants are required to submit a resume and cover letter. Your application may not be considered if you are missing any of these documents. Applicants will receive an automatic confirmation email after submission.

2. Interview

Applicants will be notified if they will be moving on to the interview stage, and the department supervisor will set up an interview for the position. One letter of recommendation must be submitted at the conclusion of the interview. The letter must come from a current or former professor, employer, or community leader.

3. Receive Decision Letter

Within 10 – 12 business days after having completed the interview, candidates will receive a decision letter with further information.

Position: A.B.L.E. Program Intern 

Location: Fully Onsite at Isaiah House, Washington, DC 20001 

Duration: Spring, Summer, and Fall

The program fosters a positive, empowering environment that encourages participants to build confidence, gain skills, and elevate their daily lives. The A.B.L.E. Intern provides direct support to daily programming at Isaiah House. Interns assist with group and one-on-one sessions, prepare and serve snacks, help with activities, and ensure the environment remains clean and welcoming. This role is ideal for students or early professionals interested in human services, education, psychology, or community support.
