After being open for pick-up services for the past year and a half to minimize person-to-person contact, the SOME dining room is partially open for people to eat in person!
The updated dining room hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
These hours were only made possible thanks to the work of the emergency services and dining room teams, to make the dining room as safe as possible for people to come in and eat breakfast. For the time being, lunch will continue to be offered as a pick-up option from 71 O. Street.
The dining room is usually fully operational to clients but had to shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Right now, we are not accommodating the usual hundreds of people that we usually have in the dining room. But things will continue to move closer and closer to pre-pandemic functionality.
Head of Volunteer Services, Rebecca Flaherty, explained the precautions being taken by the SOME team, “Guests, staff, and volunteers all continue to abide by social distancing protocols by wearing masks and having temperature checks.”
“As guests enter the dining room their temperatures are taken, and they are given a new mask. We have set up the dining room so that every guest has their own space, so when they are eating, they have privacy and space.”
We are so happy to be able to once again eat with our friends and neighbors on O. Street.
This is only possible with support from our volunteers. Thank you!
