Addressing all aspects of our clients’ needs, SOME Senior Services enriches, empowers, and improves the lives of DC’s low-income seniors. We assist them in retaining their independence and improve their qualities of life through a robust network of affordable housing, community-based resources, and supportive programming.

The SOME Senior Summer Camp
Currently on hold due to COVID-19, SOME offers an annual Senior Summer Camp for eligible senior citizens in need of rest and relaxation. Participants can enjoy the summer camp at our residential site in West Virginia.
Eligibility: Participants must be age 60 or older, physically independent, and able to provide a medical form from their doctor as well as proof of income.

The Senior Center
SOME has two Senior Centers, located in Wards 4 and 8, that offers enriching wellness, recreational and supportive services. Activities include, but are not limited to, fitness classes, health and wellness seminars, and senior advocacy workgroups. Community trips such as trips to museums, national parks, and shopping centers are available. Lunch is provided daily, from 1-2pm.
Karin House Senior Center (Ward 4)
The Karin House Senior Center is located at the Historic Walter Reeds Campus. Ward 4 is 1 mile away from the Takoma Metro Station and a 4-minute walk from the Bus stop on 16th St NW. The Senior Center is neighbored by grocery stores such as Safeway and Walmart. Additional services provided at the Karin House Senior Center include case management and emergency food resources.
