We’re kicking off SOME’s 2021 observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month with a special message from the SOME Domestic Violence Task Force.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and our theme this year is “One Thing: Uniting Individual Efforts for Collective Action.”
We chose this theme because while many of us understand that domestic violence is a serious public health problem and want to do something about it, it can be hard to believe that our personal efforts can make a difference. But if each of us focuses on “One Thing,” together we CAN create real change within our communities.
SOME’s Domestic Violence Task Force hopes you will join us in the fight to end domestic violence. Each week during the month of October, we will provide valuable information on domestic violence (also known as intimate partner violence, domestic abuse, or relationship abuse) here on our blog and our social media. Guidance on connecting with local resources, relationship tips, client testimonials, and more will help to raise awareness and support those in need.
If you have been personally affected by domestic violence, please remember to care for yourself and include “One Thing” each day that honors your story and supports your well-being.
Working with you to promote meaningful change,
SOME’s Domestic Violence Task Force
