SOME is frustrated at the way yesterday’s tent encampment clearance took place. Unhoused residents are our neighbors, and deserve compassion and respect. We call for encampment clearings to cease until all are housed. We will continue to pray for the injured resident.
While SOME does not perform direct street outreach to the encampments, we fully support our sister organizations doing this work, including Pathways to Housing.
SOME continues to help our unhoused neighbors meet their basic needs at 71 ‘O’ Street NW where anyone may join our breakfast and lunch services, use our shower facilities, or receive clothing, food pantry bags, and hygiene items. We also offer weekday walk-in visits to our medical, dental, and behavioral health providers across the street at 60 ‘O’ Street NW.
SOME works with partner organizations to help DC residents enter our continuum of care, including our affordable housing programs.
