Since 1970, we been a care provider and a beacon of hope to residents in our nation’s capital. Our services are available to individuals, families, senior citizens, veterans and those affected by physical or mental illness. Every day, we are working to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through our comprehensive approach, which we call Whole Person Care.

Heaven & Maya
When Maya first came to SOME, her daughter, Heaven, had severe health problems. She spent most of the first year of her life in the hospital. After Maya and Heaven moved from a homeless shelter to SOME’s two-year transitional housing program, their lives began to change. Maya enrolled Heaven in a school run by one of SOME’s education partners (Bright Beginnings?). With the support of her Family Services Case Manager, Maya learned about financial literacy and how to build her credit.
Sherita

Learn How We Meet Our Client's Needs
There are many triggers that lead to homelessness, including job loss, domestic violence and illness. In a city like Washington, DC, with our soaring cost of living and lack of affordable housing, many of our neighbors are just one hardship away from dislocation.
Every day, SOME is working tirelessly to support many of the over 6,000 people in our nation’s capital who are experiencing homelessness. We start by meeting their basic needs—providing them with a toothbrush, a shower, a mailbox. After we’ve established trust, we work with them to develop long-term plans for their health and wellness, employment, and housing.
