Supporting and Celebrating Mothers This Mother’s Day

We celebrated a meaningful Mother’s Day this May thanks to the generosity and compassion of dedicated volunteer Maria Detherage and her incredible team of volunteers, who hosted a special Ladies Pink Boutique for the women of So Others Might Eat. Held at Isaiah House, the celebration transformed the space into a warm and joyful environment where women could feel appreciated, celebrated, and cared for.

The event featured pampering items, roses, Mother’s Day cards, music, and a thoughtfully curated boutique filled with clothing, shoes, purses, perfume, hats, and other gifts designed to make the holiday feel extra special. For many women, moments like these offer not only comfort and encouragement, but also a reminder that they are seen, valued, and supported by their community.

At SOME, we are proud to support mothers and families every day through our Whole Person Care model, which addresses both immediate needs and long-term stability. From affordable and supportive housing to nutritious daily meals, hygiene support, healthcare services, workforce development training, and summer programming for children, SOME works to ensure families have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

Celebrations like the Pink Boutique serve as a powerful reminder that small acts of kindness and connection can have a lasting impact. By creating spaces centered on dignity, joy, and community, volunteers help strengthen the supportive environment that mothers and families deserve year-round.

We are deeply grateful to Maria and every volunteer who helped make this Mother’s Day celebration possible. Their generosity brought smiles, encouragement, and meaningful moments of joy to many women in our community.
