SOME’S Volunteer Vaccination Policy, Effective November 1, 2021

At SOME, we value responsibility and as a community-based organization, we see it as part of our mission to protect the well-being of all those involved in our work, from our guests and clients to volunteers and staff.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the health and safety of our clients, staff, volunteers, and the larger community have been our priority. Recently, SOME put a mandate in place requiring all SOME staff, contractors, and providers to be vaccinated. We believe in the vaccines and the guidance of our health officials through this global health crisis. SOME is now extending this policy to our volunteers and interns.

Beginning on November 1st, when logging into VolunteerHub, users will be prompted with a question, “Have you been fully vaccinated?” Anyone not fully vaccinated will have their account locked until they have received all doses required by the FDA. This policy will become active on November 1st, giving those who have not been vaccinated time to do so. You can find more information on vaccines in the District by visiting Coronavirus.DC.gov/Get-Vaccinated.

We understand that not everyone has the ability or desire to receive a vaccine; however, we need to continue to be responsible neighbors to those we serve by maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Failure to become fully vaccinated will result in the suspension of service with SOME. Volunteers and interns will not be permitted to join any direct service opportunities and will be limited to virtual options when available. SOME holds the right to deny the service of any volunteer or intern who fails to comply with this policy. You can find more information on the policy on our VolunteerHub page.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Volunteer Team at Volunteer@SOME.org. Please visit VolunteerHub.com to sign up for a volunteer shift at SOME.
