Farmer Mac Steps Up for SOME

Farmer Mac employees showed up in a big way for SOME this spring, demonstrating their commitment to service through not one, but two impactful volunteer events.

On April 21, dozens of Farmer Mac volunteers came together to assemble 200 grocery bags filled with pantry staples for residents living in SOME’s affordable housing communities. Packed with nonperishable food items, the bags helped provide thousands of meals to individuals and families, ensuring residents had access to nutritious essentials while easing the burden of grocery costs.

Just one month later, Farmer Mac volunteers returned to support students enrolled in SOME’s Center for Employment Training (CET). Together, they assembled 300 workforce development kits designed to help participants succeed in their career training programs and prepare for long-term employment. A portion of the kits included tablets for students with the greatest need, helping remove technology barriers and ensuring more individuals have access to the tools necessary to learn, grow, and pursue economic opportunity.

These volunteer events reflect a broader commitment from Farmer Mac to engage with SOME throughout the year. With plans to participate in service opportunities at least once each quarter, Farmer Mac is building a partnership that extends well beyond a single day of volunteering. We are deeply grateful for their generosity, compassion, and dedication to strengthening our community. Their support is making a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents, students, and clients—and we’re excited to share that the next volunteer event is already in the works.
