Community Collaboration: Alfred Street Baptist Church and SOME Work Together to Expand Dining Services

SOME is thrilled to announce that the Alfred Street Baptist Church has generously awarded SOME a grant to support the much-needed renovations to expand and enhance its main dining facility. The dining facility provides daily hot, nutritious meals as well as emergency services to address the immediate needs of clients such as showering, clothing, and mail distribution. The partnership with the Alfred Street Baptist Church is helping SOME to continue operating its dining services throughout these renovations by moving all affected services and programs to various facilities on its O St. NW campus. In addition to the grant, disciples of the Alfred Street Baptist Church have been volunteering to engage SOME’s senior clients by hosting games and other activities. The church also invited SOME’s Senior Vice President of Community Outreach, Daryl Wright, to speak at their Good Friday Service event. SOME is deeply grateful for the Alfred Street Baptist Church’s robust and ongoing support of its mission. Interested organizations are encouraged to explore volunteer opportunities for their team members to make a positive impact in the DC community, following the church’s lead.
