This spring, SOME celebrated both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day with special events across our Family and Senior Housing programs, honoring the incredible parents in our community.
For Mother’s Day, the Barnaby Chesapeake Team hosted a beautiful event titled “Smooth Notes at The MP” for residents in Family Housing. The afternoon featured soulful live music from DC-based singer-songwriter Veronique, whose sound—rooted in the styles of Nina Simone and Billie Holiday—created a warm and relaxing atmosphere. With delicious food, fellowship, and heartfelt moments, the event gave mothers a well-deserved opportunity to unwind and feel celebrated.
Just a few weeks later, SOME’s Senior Services honored the fathers in our Senior Housing program with a festive Father’s Day cookout. The celebration included great food, music, dancing, and laughter as residents came together to enjoy an afternoon of community and connection.
Moments like these reflect the power of community and the importance of creating spaces where our residents feel seen, valued, and supported.
