Advocating for Equitable Communities

SOME’s advocacy network recently participated in the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing & Economic Development Advocacy Day at the Wilson Building in DC, a pivotal event where teams engaged with 11 out of the 12 council members. Through meaningful dialogue, we highlighted the urgent need to address housing insecurity, a pressing issue affecting families, seniors, and single adults served by SOME. Armed with firsthand experiences and compelling stories from our work, we passionately advocated for increased support in the proposed budget. This advocacy day provided an invaluable opportunity to not only voice our concerns but also to listen to council members’ perspectives and pose challenging questions.
