Recognizing the Maximus Foundation!

We are honored to recognize the Maximus Foundation, which has deepened its partnership with SOME through a significant multi-year grant aimed at boosting food security and strengthening community resilience across Washington, D.C. This expanded commitment reflects the Foundation’s dedication to scaling innovative, sustainable solutions that improve food access — a mission that aligns seamlessly with SOME’s holistic approach to hunger, health, and Whole Person Care.

Thanks to this support, SOME will increase the number of nutritious meals served over the next three years while expanding vital nutrition education and peer-support programming for dining room guests. These investments not only ensure individuals have access to healthy, dignified meals, but also empower them with the knowledge and community connections that build long-term stability.

Beyond financial support, Maximus continues to show up in meaningful ways — from meal-packing events to hands-on volunteer opportunities that allow staff to connect directly with SOME’s mission and the neighbors we serve. These moments of shared service strengthen the bond between our organizations and amplify the collective impact we can make.

Dr. Arvenita Washington Cherry, President and Chairperson of the Maximus Foundation, affirmed this commitment by noting, “SOME has shown the power of engaging, encouraging, and supporting their communities. Their commitment to uplifting individuals and families reminds us that, together, we can drive impact in our communities and work toward transformative and sustainable change. We honor SOME for their dedication to the community and look forward to our partnership.”

SOME is deeply grateful for the Maximus Foundation’s leadership and partnership. Together, we look forward to advancing shared food security goals — ensuring our neighbors have the nourishment, support, and resources they need to thrive.
