Monumental (Sports and Entertainment) Impact in Our Community

SOME’s partnership with the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation (MSEF) is a powerful example of how DC’s sports culture and community spirit go hand in hand. Together, we are creating meaningful impact by addressing food insecurity and homelessness across the District and showing what is possible when civic pride meets purpose.

Through MSEF’s Season of Giving, SOME received a critical food security grant to support nutritious meals for our neighbors most in need. In addition, Washington Wizards fans stepped up in a big way, donating roughly 1,000 pantry items that helped stock SOME’s food pantry and extend our reach during a high-need season.

That momentum continued on the ground at SOME’s O Street campus, where the Washington Mystics and their season ticket holders came together for a hands-on day of service. More than 60 supporters assembled meal kits, snack packs, and dignity kits, while also hosting a donation drop-off to restock SOME’s clothing room and pantry. The day reflected a shared commitment to service, teamwork, and community care.

Mystics guard Georgia Amoore captured the spirit of the day, sharing the joy of connecting with fans while giving back:

“You hit two birds with one stone, to be able to get to know community members while doing something good for the community. It’s a good feeling to not only proactively do something, but to build relationships.”

We are proud of what this partnership has already accomplished and excited to continue building alongside Monumental in 2026, expanding opportunities for service, deepening community connections, and ensuring more of our neighbors have access to food, dignity, and a path forward.
