Thea Bowman House for Women and Children is SOME’s new inpatient substance abuse treatment program where mothers can get help without being separated from their children. Thea Bowman House provides treatment for up to 14 homeless and low-income mothers, each with one or two children 10 years old or younger. The program also accepts pregnant women.
Thea Bowman House is a strength-based, family centered residential addiction program that provides trauma-informed care, addictions treatment, mental health services, full medical care including primary, pre- and post-natal care, parenting education and support, family therapy, case management, relapse prevention and recovery support.

1. DC residents age 21 or older.
2. In need of residential substance abuse treatment.
3. Women with up to two children 10 years old or younger and/or pregnant.
4. Must have physical custody of dependent children.
