Transitional Housing

Our mission in the SOME Transitional Housing Program is to provide a safe and structured living environment where each resident is empowered to move from dependence to independence.

We accomplish this goal by helping residents pursue an effective addictions recovery program, find and maintain a steady source of income, and find recovery-friendly long-term housing.

SOME's Pre-Recovery program offers homeless men and women a safe place to stay while awaiting admittance to our 90-day residential addiction treatment programs, Maya Angelou House and Exodus House.

Leland Place and Harvest House are housing programs for men and women recovering from addictions. In these 90-120 day post-recovery programs, residents have a safe, structured place to live and continue recovery while also learning job-readiness skills.

SOME's Thea Bowman Housing Program is SOME's transitional housing for families. This program places families in a two-year savings and life-skills program until permanent housing can be found.

SOME's Senior Program offers transitional housing for the abused and neglected elderly. At the Dwelling Place Shelter for Abused Elderly, clients receive nutritious meals, companionship, and assistance with obtaining Social Security benefits and permanent affordable housing.

While providing transitional housing for our clients, we are also advocating for funding and program changes to ensure that other individuals and families with mental health and substance abuse problems have appropriate places to live.
