Behavioral Health Services

At SOME's Behavioral Health Services, professional clinicians provide individual and group counseling to homeless and extremely low-income individuals. Clients are accepted as walk-ins and by appointment. Our social workers and psychiatrists address mental illness, substance abuse, and general treatment through a comprehensive social-service program. After an assessment, the men and women who come to SOME's Behavioral Health Services may be given referrals to our other programs such as our Addictions Recovery programs, Exodus House or Maya Angelou House, our Health Services programs, our Transitional Housing Programs, our mental health counseling services (group and individual), or our other mental health programs, Jordan House, Mary Claire House, or Isaiah House.

The Jordan House Crisis Stabilization program is a 14 day alternative to psychiatric hospitalization. In 2006, SOME was able to open another facilty, Mary Claire House, which provides transitional housing for clients who have been stabilized at Jordan House, but may not have a safe place to live.

Isaiah House is a day program for mentally ill homeless men and women. This program provides these adults the opportunity and resources necessary to integrate successfully into the community. Isaiah House provides the chance for socialization, alleviating the feelings of isolation and loneliness, while also providing them with the mental health services and education and vocational development they need to gain self-confidence.

SOME's Continuing Care program provides six months of counseling and support as individuals make the transition from homelessness and addictions back into society. The Continuing Care program requires participants to maintain their sobriety and follow the traditional NA or AA steps of attending meetings and finding a sponsor. Weekly group meetings are held to further address addictions recovery, family problems and other issues involved with transitioning into society. Graduation ceremonies are hosted after a group has completed Continuing Care to celebrate the completion of a comprehensive, one year addiction treatment program.
