Immediate Needs
SOME's operates many programs that meet the immediate needs of Washington's poor and homeless. These programs ensure that poor and homeless individuals survive to see another day, be it through a meal to stave off hunger, a coat to protect against the bite of winter, or medicine to prevent a small medical problem from becoming a life-threatening condition. In addition to the practical nature of these services, they serve a second purpose, which involves treating each person who comes to us with dignity and respect. By addressing the person as well as the condition a person suffers from, we succeed at bridging a trust with those we serve. In addition to our food programs and clothing and shower rooms, SOME offers legal services to our clients once a week by volunteer attorneys through a partnership with the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless at our 60 'O' Street, NW location. |
