Volunteers prepare to serve a hot lunch to SOME guests

SOME could not possibly do its work without the help of volunteers. Last year, volunteers gave an estimated 36,567 hours of their time to help cook and serve food in our dining room, tutor children, and share their gifts in a variety of ways. Thank you!

Please read below about all of the ways you can volunteer!

Administrative/Clerical - Individuals available to help with phone coverage, greeting visitors, filing, and other administrative tasks.

Professional Services - Seeking Health Care, Oral Health and Mental Health providers; Accountants; Professional Development & Employee Training Instructors, Cooks, and more... Students and interns are welcome with some programs.

Elderly Services - Become a Senior Caregiver and/or assist our Senior programs by sharing your talents and skills; looking for manicurist/pedicurist, fitness instructor, workshop leaders, arts/crafts leader and more. Great for families, groups, or individuals interested in working with Senior Citizens.

Tutoring/Mentoring Youth and Adults - Reading, writing, social skills, computer skills, GED preparation to name a few areas in need of volunteers. Opportunities to work one-one or in classroom settings with adults and youth in SOME's programs.

Food Service and Preparation - Great for individuals and groups interested in volunteering one-time or an a regular basis.

Special Occasions - Celebrate a special occasion or birthday with SOME's clients by assisting with special activities.

Property Beautification/Landscaping - Assist us in helping clients feel proud of where they live and receive services. SOME needs help with painting, gardening, cleaning, and other beautification projects.

Activity or Workshop Leaders (Individuals and group volunteers needed) - Several programs are in need of facilitators of activities from yoga, arts and crafts, outings, to game nights - great for small groups.

Material Donations - Volunteers assist in sorting and distributing donations to SOME. Children are welcome. Great for groups or individuals. Volunteers are especially needed in November and December.

Opportunities for Children - there are a variety of ways that children can volunteer their time and energy for SOME.

Long-term Opportunities - for individuals who are looking to make a significant impact for SOME by spending 3 months to a year volunteering (full-time).
