Summer Vacation Care Packages

Summer can be a very dangerous time for the homeless, particularly for the elderly and those with poor health. The hot, humid summers in Washington, DC, present the very real dangers of hyperthermia and dehydration to our homeless population. To combat these dangers, and to provide those we serve with essential toiletries, SOME hosts a “Summer Vacation Care Package” drive. We will be accepting care packages at 71 O Street, NW from June 1 to August 1.

To assemble a summer care package, please fill a clear, 1 gallon Ziploc bag with the following items:

SOME provides over 70,000 pounds of groceries each year to thousands of hungry people. We support healthy eating at SOME, and you can help!

Food Drive

Organizing a food drive can be simple, fun and an effective way to help SOME combat hunger in our community. Consider organizing a food drive in your neighborhood, at your local school, place of worship or workplace.

Each and every item collected does make a difference! Download our food drive flyer to get started!

If you are having a large food drive that may require pick-up service, please contact our Donations Manager at 202.797.8806, ext. 2104 or [email protected]. Our driver and truck are extremely busy, so we are only able to offer pick-up service for large food drive collections.
