Planned Giving

Whether supported through an outright gift or planned gift, all SOME programs are made possible through the generosity and commitment of people like you. A planned gift to SOME helps to ensure the future of the services and programs we provide to those in need in our nation's capital.

Many of our supporters make charitable gifts by naming SOME as a beneficiary in their wills.

How to contact SOME regarding estate information:
If you are considering SOME as a beneficiary for your will or bequest or are administering an estate or trust, please telephone SOME's Director of Development at 202.797.8806 extension 1013 for more information.

How to include SOME in my will:
To make a bequest to SOME, the following language will be helpful to your lawyer:

I give, devise, and bequeath to SOME the sum of _______ (or otherwise describe the gift or specify a percentage of the estate).

There are three ways you can make a bequest:

  1. Specific Bequest
You designate a specific dollar amount, specific percentage, or specific property to SOME.
  2. Residual Bequest
Your estate will pay all debts, taxes, expenses, and specific bequests. The remaining amount--the residue--will be transferred to SOME.
  3. Contingent Bequest
You can ask that SOME receive all or a portion of your estate only under certain circumstances. For example, you can name SOME as a beneficiary of your estate only if there are no surviving close family members. Childless couples sometimes provide for the entire estate to go to the surviving spouse, or if the spouse does not survive, to SOME.

If you have already made a plan to give to SOME in your will or estate plan, please contact SOME's Director of Development at 202.797.8806 extension 1013 or some@some.org. We realize that with your special gift, you consider us to be part of your family, and we want to do our best to keep you informed as to how your gift will be used and to give you the opportunity to tell us of your wishes.
