Community Events for SOME

Included on this page are some of the recent and upcoming ways that local individuals and companies are supporting SOME and its programs for the homeless and poor in our community. This listing is not exhaustive, and SOME does not endorse or guarantee the events or products offered here. Please also visit our sponsor page and help us to thank the generous companies who support our programs for the homeless and hungry. If your business or organization would like to host a community event for SOME, please contact Tracy Monson at tmonson@some.org or at 202.797.8806 ext. 1011.

Rock Out for SOME - "The Cars vs. Van Halen"

Cover band extraordinaire Wrath of Borgnine performs "The Cars vs. Van Halen" on Saturday, July 17 from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm at Solly's U Street Tavern. The suggested donation is $10 per person, and Solly's is located at 1942 11th Street, NW. The band promises an evening of "bad dancing, awful wigs and spandex" and all proceeds will benefit SOME's programs for the homeless. Please contact Tracy Monson at tmonson@some.org for additional information.
"DC Street" Chronicles Homelessness in Washington

After volunteering in the SOME Dining Room, Azim Al-Sala'm, founder of Consider Someone Else, decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of his new single "DC Street" to help the hungry and homeless at SOME. The song describes the hunger and poverty that Mr. Al-Sala'm, a native Washingtonian, has seen in the city.
Bolling Courier Express Delivers for SOME

A veteran of the armed forces, Bolling Courier Express owner Melissa Bolling has always been committed to service. When she opened her courier service earlier this year, one of her first orders of business was to find a way to contribute to the community through her work. Since March, she has offered complimentary courier service to SOME, enabling the organization to conduct essential business while directing every possible dollar to its services for the homeless.
DrinkMore Water Helps Participants Trot for Hunger

Each year, DrinkMore Water provides water for SOME's Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger. This year they are supporting SOME in a new way, by making a donation each time a SOME supporter signs up for delivery service. Sign up for a year (or more) of delivery service with Drink More Water and mention SOME, and Drink More Water will donate $50 back to SOME! Call Jeff Schiz with Drink More Water at 301-417-9333 and be sure to mention SOME.
