Recent Happenings at SOME – December

SOME runs 38 programs and there is always a lot going on! Here are some recent events in our programs from December.

Isaiah House Holiday Celebrations

Isaiah House, SOME’s therapeutic day program or men and women who have been impacted by both homelessness and severe and persistent mental illness, provides a variety of programming throughout the year and the staff makes sure to brighten the holiday season with special activities. This December, Isaiah House, put together a variety of special programs and activities for our clients.

They enjoyed a wonderful holiday sing-along with Gourmet Symphony, Second Wind Chorus and soprano, Mandy Brown. The performance was magical and the artists even performed an impromptu rendition of Ave Maria, that brought tears to the eyes of our clients and staff. The men and woman of Isaiah House also participated in the annual tradition of carol singing at our offices. Carol Singers make their way around the offices stopping at the different departments to sing and play instruments – it always makes for a very special day at the office and all of the staff had a great time joining in on the songs!

Surprise Visit from Santa Claus

Our Family Services department held a holiday party at each of SOME’s affordable housing apartment buildings. The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg House Holiday Party had a special cookie and hot chocolate bar with marshmallows, sprinkles and whipped cream hot chocolate toppings for the kids to choose. At Fendall Heights, SOME’s first affordable housing program specifically for veterans, the residents had a “breakfast for dinner” themed meal and played charades. Each program put together a special evening with lots of themed activities for the residents to partake in.

All of the programs had a special visitor come to their parties… SANTA CLAUS! Mr. Claus came to spread joy and take pictures with all of the boys and girls. He also handed out the presents and participated in the games. Everyone who came to the holiday parties had a wonderful time!
