Restoring Health and Hope to James

James was 12 years old when he first began hearing voices. He did not tell anyone.

As a young man, the strain of caring for and losing both of his parents in rapid succession resulted in a complete nervous breakdown.

Alone and struggling with mental illness, James deterioriated to the point that he no longer wished to go on living.

At that critical time, James came to SOME for breakfast and fortunately crossed the street to our Medical Clinic, where he met with a psychiatrist and got the help that he needed.

James stabilized his mental health and ultimately moved into one of our affordable housing programs for homeless men and women.

James says:

I had lost all hope, and I don’t feel that way anymore. I’m just very blessed for everyone that’s helped me…to restore my sanity and my health and my hope.
