Celebrating SOME Staff

Every quarter SOME takes time to celebrate and recognize departments and staff who have been nominated by colleagues for their outstanding work ethic and recent achievements!

This quarter we had the opportunity to give back to a team that is key to the success of all SOME employees and for the organization as a whole. Our HR Department must ensure all policies, procedures and benefits are properly instituted at SOME, but they also take the time to ensure the physical and mental well-being of all employees. With so many staff events throughout the year–health and wellness challenges, orientations for new employees and professional development sessions–there is always a chance to get to know your colleagues better, celebrate, learn and have fun. We are so happy we had the opportunity to recognize an essential part of the SOME community.

During this event we also recognized two employees, Janelle Mancuso, Isaiah House Therapist, and Verdetta Franklin, Case Manager at Harvest House. Ms. Mancuso and Ms. Franklin have gone above and beyond the duties and responsibilities of their job to better serve our clients, staff and community.

Janelle Mancuso works in SOME’s Isaiah House, a therapeutic day program that provides a supportive environment for men and women who have been impacted by both homelessness and severe and persistent mental illness. The holiday season can be very traumatic and difficult time of year for homeless men, women and children and Ms. Mancuso helped ensure it was a safe and festive time for Isaiah House members. Ms. Mancuso also oversaw many staff and volunteer changes during this time, handling challenges with grace and dignity.

Verdetta Franklin works at SOME’s Harvest House, the second step in our Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Program. This transitional housing program for women offers on-site case management and 24-hour staffing, with a focus on obtaining income through employment or entitlements, developing a network of supports, securing permanent housing, etc. Recently Ms. Franklin stepped up and worked alongside staff at our men’s transitional housing program to make sure both programs continued to run smoothly.

Congratulations to our honorees!
