Hosted by the First Baptist Church
April 11
Thank you for joining SOME at the 40th Anniversary Evening of Appreciation. The evening featured an inspired performance by Mark Russell, a long-time friend of SOME. It was wonderful to see so many of the volunteers and donors who make SOME's programs for the homeless and hungry possible.
Many thanks to Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Haggray and the staff, volunteers and members of First Baptist Church for generously hosting this special evening.
On July 1, in commemoration of SOME's four decades of service to the homeless and poor, the Georgetown Chorale, directed by Elaine J. Rendler-McQueeney, D.M.A., and members of the San Jose Symphonic Choir, the Monterey Symphony Chorus and local singers gave a stunning performance of Henry Mollicone's Beatitude Mass (for the Homeless), under the guest direction of the composer. The 40th Anniversary Concert Chorale also performed a medley from Les Miserables conducted by Dr. Rendler-McQueeney.
Featured soloists Christopher Walker of Los Angeles and Kathryn Hearden of Virginia sung the roles of Adam and Evelyn in a composition inspired by interviews with homeless women and men.
SOME is grateful to the talented performers and generous sponsors and supporters who made this special anniversary event possible.
